GEMS Education is a pioneering education company. Established in the UAE in 1968, GEMS Education is now the world’s largest provider of K-12 private education – operating more than 70 schools and employing over 19,000 people across 19 markets in the Middle East, North America, Europe, Asia and Africa.

In 2014, Fajr Capital led a consortium of investors, including Blackstone and Mumtalakat, to acquire a minority stake in GEMS Education’s “emerging markets” business – which comprises the growing markets in the Middle East and Southeast Asia, but excludes the more mature markets of the US and Europe.

The Fajr Capital-led consortium exited its investment in GEMS Education in July 2019 to CVC Capital Partners.
